Reimagining the Studio

It’s hard to believe I moved to this new-to-me space inside Ranch and Root in Sauk City slightly less than a year ago.  Changes are coming, however!  I’m not leaving the co-op; I love being here, involved with the day to day workings, the engagement with customers and with the others involved in this different business model.  All of us are very community oriented and this has proven to be very well received.  I think the customers that come here are intrigued by the wide breadth of what is offered in this building, all local from food to gifts.

Now, we are expanding!!

It’s supposed to something a business does slowly and methodically, but don’t tell that to a bunch of energetic, enthusiastic and creative women.  Our coffee shop owner, Brittney of Buzzed Bean Coffee is busting at the seams with all the traffic coming in for her fabulous and interesting beverages, so we all agreed to help her expand the space to accommodate the upsurge in customers and be able to offer some light food choices, something much needed and sought here.

After a good look at what can be done with this historic and crazy puzzle of a building, it dawned on us that they need the area I set up as my dye kitchen as their food prep space.  We are giving up the classroom space for their drink ordering and prep area.  AND, we will need a bigger, more accessible seating area for the customers.  SO, I’m condensing my space and moving the sink and water for dye work on the other side of a new wall we will put up between the coffee space and my dye studio.  My off-site class equipment will need to come home, and we will open up a small area for my supply shelves.

After a few more bids from contractors, we hope we can get started and finished by the end of April or sooner.
